This week we picked up the pace again on postings to get back to the regular slate of new places added to the recommended restaurants list, a review, and some wine talk. Though we did double dip.
Updates to Recommended Restaurant List:
Added – We added the Italian deli spot A. Litteri to the list. It is not the easiest place to get to for lunch, but they make a darn good sub.
Reviews:
Maydan – The open fire-centric spot has been packing them in since day one. We agree it is a special place.
Wine:
Union Market – We continue to build out our list of great neighborhood wine shops in D.C. This week it was two at Union Market. Cordial is the small shop dedicated to small producers that can be found inside the main hall. The other shop is the aforementioned A. Litteri which boasts a large selection of Italian wine, plus some other choices.
Other News:
Apropos of the caption above, for those who didn’t see it, former Palena Chef/Owner Frank Ruta is working with Ashok Bajaj. Bajaj recently took over the old Nora space and many of us have dreams of what might evolve from that.
Frenchy’s Naturel, the French bistro-ish spot that replaced The Bird announced it is throwing in the towel. It remains a great locations if someone can find the right concept. I frankly like The Bird better.
As always, you can search from over 200 recommended restaurants in our D.C. dining guide in both LIST and MAP format.
