On Saturdays, we often divert from talking about restaurants in Washington to highlighting art. The depth of the collection at the National Gallery is so great we often don’t need to “leave” D.C. to find something interesting or good.
Today’s piece is The Peppermint Bottle by Paul Cézanne. Oil on Canvas (1893/1895). Of Cézanne’s still lifes in the NGA collection, it is one of the more composed with two different fabrics wrapping around the bottles and cradling the fruit.
For more on the artist, you can check out the National Gallery of Art site.
When your are done visiting the museums and are thinking about where to eat, then we can help with that too. There are 200+ recommended restaurants in our dining guide. You can search either in LIST format or MAP.
Enjoy these last days of spring!
