Before Times Review:
El Rinconcito Café – Today we add a legend to the list. The small spot (handful of tables and small bar) has been serving locals for years, but word is getting out. Along with Tortino and El Sol, it is a non-chi-chi options in a rapidly changing area. The food is Salvadoran and Mexican classics done well. The servings are large and affordable. The staff friendly and the banter around the bar in Spanish. Definitely worth walking a few blocks out of the way to see if you can snag an open table.

2.5 Tom: No review in the Post. But Carman likes the pupusas, and Judkis gives them a shoutout.
Washingtonian: Cheap Eats in 2011. Why the best Mexican places are really Salvadoran.
