Image: The best slice in the world!

Current Status: Sit-down and take-out vary by location, be sure to confirm. Currently, the Tyson’s and NoMa locations have sit-down dining as well as take-out and delivery. The Navy Yard and Alexandria locations are co-located at breweries (Atlas Brew Works and Aslin respectively) with counter service. The Shaw location is for take-out and delivery only, though it is next to the bar Echo Park, which it also feeds.
Overview: Andy’s serves a very good version of New York style pizza, meaning large pies, thin crust, and available by the slice as well as whole. Its basic cheese version recently won a big-deal competition in Las Vegas. Along with Slice Joint, another relative newcomer, the Neapolitan–style places finally have some competition from NYC for our pizza affection (not to mention the Detroit-style crowd).
The ingredients are well-sourced. Care is taken with the dough. Quick expansion means quality control cannot be as strict as when it started up, but recent samplings from two different locations were both good. We would caution however that the freshness falls off quickly after removal from the oven, so some re-heating may be required to bring it back to life if you do take-out. The website offers this counsel: “If your pizza isn’t piping hot, we recommend preheating your oven to 400 and putting slices directly on the rack for just 2 minutes!”
The choices include staples you would expect like cheese, pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage & pepper. There are also burrata margherita, diavolo with ricotta, a white pizza and a plant-based margherita option. Some locations offer square, thicker crust Sicilian pies. The Caesar salad is not bad, they also offer a (pretty plain) kale salad and a burrata salad. You can supplement the pizza with wings, fries and brussels sprouts. For dessert they have cannoli and tiramisu. But needless to say, pizza is where they focus their attention and it is where we suggest you focus yours.
