After a summer break, we resume activity here at 17° Cork by Northwest.  Restaurant reviews and updates to the recommended list are coming in the next couple days.  In this update, we flag some news that happened in the past three weeks, starting with some sad news.

Dino’s Grotto – Dean Gold and his wife Kay Zimmerman are retiring, and with that decision, they are closing down Dino’s Grotto.  This ends a fourteen year run that started with Dino’s up in Cleveland Park.  Among various reasons, Gold says with typical charm and humor, “I’m not the world’s greatest businessman.”  You have a couple more months to enjoy the fresh cooking and deep wine list.   We wish them well.

Dio Wine Bar – The very good wine bar on H Street added more food options.  More at EaterDC.

Pembroke – The new restaurant on Dupont Circle has found, hopefully for them, a long-term chef.  Look for a new menu this fall. Harper McClure has worked in several notable spots around Washington, most recently at Le Diplomate.

Looking for a way to beat the heat and avoid cooking, we can help with that.  There are over 200 recommended restaurants in our dining guide searchable in both LIST and MAP format.
