Overview:
Namak is very good. The dishes have a subtlety, even some that sound pretty standard, that makes you stop and take notice. The food reflects the Iranian roots of one of the owners and the Turkish cuisine of the chef, and draws from the greater region as well.

Examples we’ve sampled of the subtle and surprising include the sesame encrusted feta warmed and served with watermelon that was a special, the well-seasoned shrimp skewer, and the octopus over carrot puree. One dish that Nevin Martell highlighted (and we agree on) is kuru patlican dolmasi. The dish is built on sun-dried eggplant shells imported from Turkey that are “rejuvenated in slightly sweetened water, then stuffed with bulgur, rice, and lentils, all brightened up with mint and parsley. They’re lavished with a sweet-and-sour sauce of sorts made with tomatoes, peppers, and pomegranate molasses.” The eggplant dish is also indicative of a menu that has many healthy and vegetarian options, starting with multiple spreads to scoop with very good bread.
Namak takes over the spot previously occupied by Mintwood Place. They brightened it up while still keeping the same essential layout with a sizable bar to welcome locals and lots of tables for proper sit-down dining. Tom reports, “Thick ropes and what appear to be slender wood beams decorate the ceiling. Looks are deceiving, though. The reason you can hear yourself think is because the owners paid $100,000 for acoustic panels disguised as rafters.” Cocktails also make use of the ingredients of the region, and the not-very-long wine list.

Other Guidance: Post accessibility guidance: A door to the right off the entrance admits wheelchair users, and seven indoor tables can accommodate them; restrooms are ADA-compliant. The menu does well by those looking for non-meat options.
