Last Updated: August 2021
Current Status: Open for sit-down inside and on a small sidewalk area. They will do take-out too.
Overview: The low-key bar has upgraded its menu hiring a chef that worked previously at Fiola Mare and Martin’s Tavern. The food is solid with a few fun twists like Philly Cheesesteak Empanada. The menu seems to combine those two culinary stops with Americana dishes like crab cakes and Italian staples like a very decadent Shrimp Scampi pasta both represented. While the dishes exhibit some finesse and skill, make no mistake, Grand Duchess has yet to abandon its dive bar vibe. They just recently managed to add a second bathroom in order to increase the capacity allowed. The wood floor retains the beer and industrial cleaner aroma unique to certain establishments (ah…The Big Hunt). It is a casual spot with wine on tap. But if you are in the area, it may be worth a try.
