We are nearly done rounding out our list of great neighborhood wine shops in the District. This week we highlight one of the long-standing work horses in the Cathedral/Spring Valley area.
Ace Beverage – The inconspicuous store in the business park on New Mexico Ave. has been doing great work for years. It started in Adams Morgan not long after prohibition was lifted, where it catered to hoi polloi and social register types alike. A few years back it moved to its current location. The stock covers most regions with strong representation for California and France. Italy is covered, but you have to hunt to find it. Latin American is surprisingly solid. The beer selection is slim, but the spirits choices are numerous and deep. Parking in the back with validation.
