Last Updated: October 2021
Current Status: Ivy City is open 7 Days a Week from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm. The downtown location in the Eaton Hotel is 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Chinatown location closed in early October 2022, but they claim they are looking for a new location. Seating available at all locations.
Overview: A pandemic fix to supplement for the closure of Michelin-starred Gravitas, Baker’s Daughter is a day café that starts with breakfast sandwiches and breakfast tacos (though rolled up like burritos), then transitions to lunch of salads and sandwiches. There are several prepared items (sauces, giardiniera, etc), baked goods, and food stuffs for purchase. The baked goods come from Gravitas’ talented pastry chef Aisha Momaney. The original Ivy City location across from the restaurant is clearly a favorite of locals. From that location they have already expanded to a Chinatown spot and now one in the Eaton Hotel, where Chef/Owner Matt Baker is also taking over the old American Son spot with a new restaurant. A variety of coffee and teas, fizzy drinks, and in-house made lemonade are available. It is a good spot to unwind over a snack or get revved up over with some fuel in the morning.
